What is sublimation printing ?

Sublimation printing is a process that transfers full-color images, patterns, or designs onto materials using heat and pressure. It involves printing special sublimation inks onto transfer paper, which is then pressed onto the surface of the material (often polyester or polymer-coated items). Under heat, the inks transform into gas without becoming liquid, bonding directly to the material’s fibers.

Key Points of Sublimation Printing:

  1. Durable and Long-Lasting: Since the ink embeds into the material rather than sitting on the surface, sublimated prints are highly durable and resistant to fading, cracking, or peeling.

  2. High-Quality, Vivid Colors: Sublimation enables the creation of bright, vibrant, full-color images, making it ideal for detailed designs, photographic prints, and complex color gradients.

  3. Popular for Customization: Often used for custom apparel, mugs, koozies©, mousepads, Cups, Hats and other promotional items, sublimation printing allows for edge-to-edge printing of unique designs and logos.

  4. Best on Light-Colored, Polyester Materials: Sublimation works most effectively on white or light-colored polyester fabrics and items with a polymer coating, as these materials best absorb the sublimated ink.

Sublimation is widely used for creating custom, high-quality, and long-lasting designs on a variety of promotional products and apparel.
